    Job Description
    THE ROLE

    An Ethos Classical Associate Teacher is responsible for supporting classrooms of 24–28 students to multiple years of academic achievement and social growth within a single school year. Associate Teachers write shared lesson plans; teach small groups during literacy and math blocks; supervise lunch and recess; administer assessments and track achievement data. Most importantly, they build enduring relationships with students and their families.

    The Associate Teacher role provides aspiring and new teachers with the experience they need to become excellent Lead Teachers. Benefits of this pathway include:

    • A graduate school partnership with Relay Graduate School of Education that provides GA teacher certification at no cost to the teacher.
    • Close mentorship under two master Lead Teachers
    • Progressive and scaffolded teaching responsibilities over the course of the academic year
    • Upon the completion of a successful year, Associate Teachers will have the opportunity to move into a Lead Teacher position.

    THE PERSON

    As an Associate Elementary Teacher, you will:

    • Write weekly lesson plans in one subject to be shared across the grade level.
    • Internalize, individualize, and execute common lesson plans.
    • Make instructional choices with eagerness and urgency.
    • Teach whole group, small group and individual lessons with rigor.
    • Engage in an ongoing data-driven cycle of assessment, analysis, and action.
    • Provide consistent rewards and consequences for behavior.
    • Implement school-wide systems for academics and behavior.
    • Engage families through phone calls, home visits, bus rides, and notes.
    • Commit to teach an extended daily schedule: Teacher’s day is 7:15 am–4:45 pm
    • Do whatever it takes to achieve the mission of Ethos Classical.

    THE MUST HAVES

    Prior Experience

    • Experience working with students from educationally under-resourced communities (Preferred).

    Work Demands

    • Willingness to work occasional weekend or evening work hours required.

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree required.

    Job Description
    THE ROLE

    The Elementary Special Education Teacher leads supports for Special Education and English Language Learner (ELL) students to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. The Special Education Teacher will provide critical guidance to Lead Teachers to ensure that all staff are complying with and meeting the needs of Special Education and ELL students.

    THE PERSON

    • Teach small groups in guided reading & math, using a research-based curriculum
    • Monitor referrals for scholars with special needs
    • Implement and adjust behavior interventions for scholars

    • Implement processes to monitor progress of exceptional students
    • Compile data for meetings, updates, and annual reports
    • Participate in an annual three-week staff training prior to school’s opening

    THE MUST HAVES

    Prior Experience

    • A certification in Special Education or are working towards certification in Special Education.

    Socially and Emotionally Supporting School Community Members

    • Providing regular one-on-one counseling or group counseling to scholars and families
    • Providing crisis intervention as needed
    • Managing, tracking, and documenting student interactions and counseling schedule
    • Setting goals with students and tracking progress towards those goals
    • Working directly with students to help them successfully work towards independence and self-sufficiency
    • Collaborating and communicating daily with supervisors, colleagues, and teachers to meet students’ needs

    Demonstrating Commitment to School Culture

    • Help develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of our scholars, teachers and families
    • Attend and participate in all school meetings and communicate openly with staff
    • Develop positive rapport with scholars and families
    • Ensure a safe, positive environment in group and one-on-one counseling sessions.
    • Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, scholar management policies and culture
    • Support Instructional Leadership Team and teachers when discipline issues arise.
    • Consult with the school’s Scholar Support Team to develop comprehensive supports and interventions to scholars who are presenting challenging behaviors

    Engaging Families

    • Establishing and maintain strong communication lines with all families and share progress consistently
    • Making yourself available to students, parents and other staff members
    • Designing and coordinate scholar engagement, family engagement, and family education activities

    Maintaining a Growth Mindset

    • Pursuing challenging professional goals each year
    • Offering support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues in order to create a professional working atmosphere that is conducive to change and improvement
    • Participating in school-wide and individual professional development, including training over the summer and weekly during the academic year.

    THE MUST HAVES

    Prior Experience

    • At least two years of elementary school counseling experience or extensive experience working with young children.
